Arms Trade Treaty public petition presentation, June 2012 - pacificislandaffairs
A public petition on the Arms Trade Treaty, endorsed by four Australian NGOs (Oxfam Australia, Amnesty International, Medical Association for the Prevention of War and Act for Peace)was presented to Richard Marles, Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs,  who accepted the petition on behalf of the Australian Government, Parliament House, Canberra, 27 June 2012.

The petition was symbolically handed over in the form of an A2 black and white photo of children from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a short message at the bottom listing the total number of signatories and the logos of the four agencies.
